GoGo squeeZ is a company that produces different flavored applesauces and recently needed to recall their sauce pouches due to production issues. These production issues may have allowed mold to enter into their products, and those pouches that have been labeled best by June 30, 2016 and July 26, 2016 have specifically been affected.
The company claimed that it was a specific ‘fruit mold’ inside the pouches and deemed that it does not pose a health risk according to company CEO Michael Larocche. It would have an unpleasant look and taste thought, as stated by Larocche.
Larocche said they have been working extensively with the FDA on the recall and told customers they may see a dip in production in the near future. The recall affects all GoGo squeeze products in the country, and anyone who has questions should go to www.gogosqueeze.com/announcement.
It is in MVP Environmental’s experience that there is not just one type of mold that is a ‘fruit mold’ and we are a bit unsure of where this company came up with that description. There are several types of mold that can grow on the surface of fruits (Aspergillus, Penicillium, Cladosporium, Mucor, Rhizopus…). Any surface of your home that can provide food and moisture to mold- the two key components needed for mold growth- are also prone to exposure if the conditions are right.
If you have had a recent leak, water damage emergency, or humidity issues in your home and are concerned about mold growth, don’t hesitate to call us 24 hours a day at (954) 247-9444.
